Bill Schroeder will be returning as our Race Director for the 5th Annual RRISD Project Grad 5K. Westwood High School will be the lead school for this year's event. In June, the Project Graduation 5K was selected as a"26 Miles for 26 Charities" charity again this year for the AT&T Marathon. It is a great honor to be chosen two years in a row. What this means for Project Graduation as a whole, exposure to other charities, businesses and people who may want to support us. Something different for the "26 Miles for 26 Charities" this year, there will be actual fundraising events for the "26 Miles for 26 Charities", which means each charity will be given donations from these events. Last year, we just had the exposure.
We were given a Gibson Guitar last year and the 5K Run Committee decided to hold on to the guitar until the fall when Gibson will hold an Auction. Our guitar will be signed and Auctioned off at Gibson's big Auction. The money made from this sale will be used as seed money for this year's 5K Run.
What Bill will need from SPHS Project Graduation - people to sit on the 5K Run Committee, volunteers to work a water stop at the AT&T Marathon, (usually in February), possibly volunteers to work at some of the fund-raisers for the "26 Miles for 26 Charities" and volunteers to work the day of the 5K Run, (sometime in the Spring).
